The Weakness of Human Nature【1】

The Foundation for Building a Happy Family

Learning to Be Considerate

A major cause of marital strife in modern families often stems from a stagnant spousal relationship pattern. The emergence of conflicts is largely due to dissatisfaction with this model of marital life. To address these family disputes, being calm, patient, and considerate is essential.
After hostility arises between spouses, it requires one partner's caring and considerate actions to dissolve it. When you notice your spouse is overwhelmed with work, lacking the time to communicate with you, or not as "passionate" as before, it's crucial to show understanding, empathy, and care. Be mindful of their feelings, avoid making jokes, and don't nag incessantly. In moments when your partner is tearful, sad, or even snaps at you, try not to take it personally. In a nutshell, you should be as patient with them as you would be with a sick person. Recognizing that their irritability is temporary and merely a "sickness" of the moment is key. Understanding that this emotional hibernation is inevitable and will soon pass can swiftly resolve domestic conflicts, leading to a happy and fulfilling family life.

Genesis 2:24 states, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." This is one of the earliest biblical teachings on marriage, emphasizing its uniqueness and intimacy. Marriage is more than a relationship between two people; it's a process of leaving one's parents to build a new family. The aim of marriage is to unite two individuals as one, to love and support each other, and to face life's challenges together.
